The Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) requires human and animal food and ingredient companies, including those making feed for livestock, to have a Preventive Control Qualified Individual (PCQI) in each facility to develop and maintain that facilities food safety plan.

HACCP training is required by USDA-FSIS for it's inspected facilities and many food manufacturers and wholesalers require their suppliers and vendors to have a working and audited HACCP plan.
